Gloucester, founded in 1623, just 3 years after the colony at Plymouth, is one of New England's oldest towns. 
This colorful town was a surprise to me. We ended up remaining there many days longer than expected while we waited the passage of Hurricane Othela. 
Gloucester was selected for the filming of 'The Perfect Storm' because of it's history and relationship with the off shore fishing life and sea.
